Bio

Dan Cayer is a nationally certified Alexander Technique teacher working in the field of pain, injury, and stress. He received his teaching certification from The American Center for the Alexander Technique in New York City. After a serious injury left Dan unable to work, or even carry out household tasks like cleaning dishes, he began studying the Alexander Technique. Dan now teaches the Technique as a method of recovering balance and well-being. As a complement, he is also trained as a teacher in the Art of Swimming where he shows students how to undo the habitual tensions and fear responses that impede one's progress in the water.

Dan has shared his firsthand experience of how this process can bring relief to seemingly intractable physical or psychosomatic challenges in workshops across NYC, Las Vegas and in the UK. He demonstrates with passion and playfulness how to apply the Alexander Technique in everyday life and as an innovative approach to swimming. Most recently, Dan has taught group workshops to new parents on how to hold, feed, and pick up their children without strain. Dan offers private lessons in the Alexander Technique and Art of Swimming in Manhattan and Park Slope, Brooklyn. He now cleans dishes (when he wants to).
