Our Engaged Practice Group supports activists and all those committed to a compassionate and just world.  We meet monthy to discuss our individual efforts, our collective endeavors, and share our experiences and learn how to be an effective citizen.  We consider the many ways we can get involved and support our values and also share resources and wisdom.  The evening will include guided meditation and discussion.  All are welcome.

Group leader Stephen Toriello fell in love with meditation in 2005. He grounds himself in the Soto Zen tradition, but he has also trained in Geluk Tibetan Buddhism, MBSR, Vipassana, and the Order of Interbeing. He holds a B.A. in Buddhist Studies and has completed the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Fundamentals teacher training, the Interdependence Project Meditation Teacher Training, the Journey Meditation teacher training, and a Yoga Works 200-hour teacher training. Stephen has completed numerous intensive silent meditation retreats and spent a year in India and Nepal studying Tibetan Buddhism in semi-monastic settings. Stephen is passionate about interweaving contemplative practice with social justice.

This is a drop-in event, and pre-registration is not necessary. We're offering it on a donation basis, and request each participant to contribute between $10 - $20. 100% of our income comes from individual members and students.  Your generosity allows us to meet our operational costs and continue to offer need-based scholarships. No one with financial difficulties will be turned away.
