Study at Home - Buddhist Studies 10 Week Beginner Series - The Buddhist Path - Register by September 24
Class Begins on Wednesday Sept. 15th, First Homestudy Audio sent out by Friday Sept. 17th, Registration Deadline for Study at Home is September 24
This study course is a great way to develop one's knowledge of Buddhism's amazing array of philosophies, morality, and practical life lessons. It will cover a range of foundational topics in Buddhist philosophy from a variety of traditions and perspectives. Each week there will be assigned readings and homework that the group will be expected to complete before class. This course will also serve as a support for you to develop and sustain a daily meditation practice.
Robert Chender is a student of the late Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche and is a senior teacher at IDP and at the Shambhala Meditation Center of New York. He frequently speaks to groups about the application of meditation practice to our daily work life, and serves as director of the Contemplative Lawyers Group of the NY City Bar Association. He has also taught about the relationship between Buddhist and shamanic practices. He is very happy to be on the board of IDP.
Crystal Gandrud is a freelance writer and professor of creative writing. She is also a graduate of Vajrayana Seminary, as well as a Meditation Instructor and Assistant Director in the Shambhala Buddhist tradition. Crystal lives in Providence, RI and Brooklyn, NY.

I am signed up for the class !
I have signed up for the home course as I live in Chicago, I also got the books and they arrived yesterday. Is there a particular reading plan that you would suggest to get started? thanks Diann
Is homework to be submitted, and if so, in what format?
Hey, there!
I am very interested in taking this course, and in fact had already purchased one of the texts on my own. I will have no problem with audio files, forums, or teleconferences that can be called in by phone (most can, these days).
However, my only Internet access is on a BlackBerry SmartPhone, so I need to know if our homework will be experiential, or if we will need to write and turn it in. I have no document editing software.
Thank you!

home study/in-person combo?
Hello.
I live in New York and am available to attend some of the classes in person but not all. Is there the possibility of doing a combination of in-person classes and home study? If not, I will happily sign up for the home study course to make sure I can keep up with every class.
Thank you,
Lory
That should work

Quesiton about homestudy option
I'd love to take this course via homestudy - I'm in California - but I'll be in China for two weeks right in the middle of the class. I'm assuming that the structure is such that we have to be online during the scheduled time, but I've never taken a homestudy class with you before so thought I should ask if that is the case, or if it's more flexible than that. I might have the ability to get online sporadically while I'm away, but I'm just not sure yet. I could definitely plan ahead and take materials with me for study while away.
Ideas?
Thanks, and thanks for a great website, and podcasts that help keep me sane! :)
Sloane, Great Question.
Sloane,
Great Question. The Audio Files are downloadable at any time, so you don't have to worry about things lining up perfectly. If you can't get online for two weeks the audio files will be there when you get back.
Thsnk!
Signing up now - looking forward to your class! :)
