There is nothing like the power of immersing yourself in the practice of meditation and teachings for an entire weekend to deepen the experience of practice.
This retreat is the first of four retreats that convey an overview - yet deep - understanding of core Buddhist meditation techniques and psychological teachings. The focus is on the two main transformative compassion techniques of Metta (lovingkindness) and Tonglen (exchanging self and other).

Each weekend retreat includes lectures, in-depth meditation instruction, short yoga breaks, and discussion. They run Friday evening 7-9pm, Saturday 10am-6pm, and Sunday 10am-1:30pm, leaving students with ample time to relax and absorb the practice on Sunday afternoon.

For 2010-2011, IDP Founder and Senior Teacher in Residence Ethan Nichtern will lead the four retreats. These retreats are part of the requirement to become certified as an IDP mindfulness facilitator, the first level of IDP's teacher authorization, set to begin in 2011.

The Four Weekend Retreats are:
Compassion Practices (June 18-20, 2010)
Four Types of Mindfulness (Sept 2010 - date tba)
Understanding Karma (January 2011 - date tba)
Emptiness (March 2011 - date tba)
