GUEST LECTURE - "Interconnectedness, Equanimity and Sacred Activism"

These words inspire us to reflect--How can we reconcile and align the forces of love and power in our heart/mind? Can kindness, compassion and equanimity inform our passion for justice and can our passion for justice lead to the cultivation of kindness, compassion and equanimity? How do we live so that our lives reflect our deepest insights and how can our deepest insights profoundly affect a life of active engagement? We will investigate these questions through meditation, discourse and inquiry.

Gina Sharpe is a co-founder and Guiding Teacher of New York Insight Meditation Center. She has studied and practiced with teachers in the Zen, Tibetan and Theravada traditions. She has taught residential retreats at Spirit Rock Meditation Center, Insight Meditation Society, the Garrison Institute and other venues. She has also been a guest teacher at Asia Society, Tibet House, the New York Open Center, Hunter College and in several other venues around the country. Formerly, she practiced law in New York City.
