Am I A Buddhist?

What it Means to Become Buddhist with Ethan Nichtern
Mon, 02/08/2010 - 7:00pm - 9:00pm

What does it mean to call yourself a Buddhist? Formally, one is called a Buddhist practitioner after taking the refuge vow.

In preparation for the "Becoming Buddhist" Refuge Vow retreat with Lineage Mentor Acharya Eric Spiegel, Ethan Nichtern will lead a FREE class for anyone who is contemplating taking the vow in March, or who just wants to know what it actually means to formally identify as a Buddhist practitioner.

Invited is anyone at all interested in the vow, as well as anyone who has already taken the vow to share the experience of "Being Buddhist" in 21st Century society.

Come with questions, skepticism, and excitement.

Some Frequently-Asked Questions Ethan will address:

How do I know if I'm ready for this?

What's the point of formally identifying this way? Can't I just practice and not put a label on it?

Does taking the vow mean I have to chose a specific Buddhist lineage? I'm not ready to do that!

Does taking the vow mean I chose Buddhism INSTEAD of other spiritual practices or traditions?
