Many people confuse kindness and love with co-dependency and giving-in, and fear that being kind would mean allowing others to hurt or harm you or others. The reality is that wisdom leads to discernment, which means that kindness is used in service of skillful action and the creation of harmony both personally and interpersonally. IDP's Lineage Mentor and benefactor, Sharon Salzberg, brilliantly describes our relationship to kindness and love in the wonderful video below.
